The Filter List (aka "iGuard") is the human-rated URL database, updated daily, that makes iPrism filtering so effective! The Filter List also includes IM/P2P filtering information and hostname "Anti-Spoofing" information.
Approximately 600,000 to 750,000 URLs are rated every business quarter (3 months) by the St. Bernard iGuard team, making it the most accurate URL filtering database available.
If a URL is not rated, iPrism Administrators may manually submit URLs, see:
How do I submit URLs for Review?
To have iPrism automatically submit un-rated URLs (highly recommended), see:
iPrism v5.0 iARP - iPrism Automatic Rating Protocol
URLs are identified as belonging to a well-defined category, known as a "site-rating". To list categories with their corresponding definitions, see:
In addition to web (http/https) filtering, iPrism provides filtering for IM/P2P protocols, see:
What IM/P2P Applications & Protocols are Filtered?
The Filter List also supports measures to flag attempts at hostname "spoofing," see:
How do I use Host-to-IP Anti-Spoofing in iPrism?
How do I Disable or Configure Host-to-IP Anti-Spoofing?
Site-Ratings can be over-ridden or setup for URLs that don't have a rating, and you can submit URLs to St. Bernard Software to be rated, see:
The Filter List is typically updated and downloaded to your appliance daily, assuming your appliance is configured for automatic Filter List updates. Because of the importance of an up-to-date Filter List, see:
